Startled, I see it staring back at me from a corner of my brain.
Silence consumes the colors leaving only questions and shadows. “What do you want?”, I ask it.
Its shadows ripple but no answer echoes back. I close my eyes to see more light, and ask again.
“What do you want?”
“Today” it softly answers, “I want today. I want to climb with the light and dive with the shadows. I want to skate on the water and soar with the wind. What do you want?”
“Today”, I reply. “I want today. I want to see the stories held captive by the shadows and to set them free to ride the light.”
